ABDEL:

Radon contaminants pose a greater risk to human health. Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas, formed from the decay of radioactive components such as uranium. The components are found in varying quantities in rock and soil, which can move into the air and into underground and surface water. Radon is the main source of lung cancer among nonsmokers. It is accountable for close to 21, 000 lung cancer deaths annually. Radon gas levels vary by region. The levels are high in regions with excessive concentration of uranium such as Lowa and North Dakota states. Also, radon gas levels in homes are higher during the winter season.
