Introduction to the Persuasive Essay
You have identified a topic that includes a problem connected to a specific place, completed a keyword search, and located some library sources. Now you will write an introduction to your persuasive essay and include your thesis statement at the end of the paragraph.
By the due date assigned, post your introduction with thesis statement to the Discussion Area. Then, by the end of the week, comment on at least two of your classmates submissions.
In drafting the introduction, think of an engaging way to open the essay. How will you interest the reader in your topic? Will you begin with a focusing question or a brief scene to grab the reader’s attention? After your opening, you will introduce the topic and give background information, working your way down to the thesis statement, which is your position on the problem and the main point of your essay. The thesis might focus on the causes of the problem or a possible solution to the problem.
