During my time in the Army I would say that the career development program is very effective.
Theres a clear path that is laid out for you and you understand what is needed at each step along the way.
I think its important to know the expectations of what you need to accomplish in order to get to the next step in your career,
and to know what the expectations at the next level of advancement will be. Learning and development should never stop in any situation. Even if an individual has recently been promoted they should constantly be groomed to excel in their new role and also to start preparing for the role after that.
